Totalcar – Magazine – Mazda RX-10 Concept, Not Mazda

Four years ago, many prostrated themselves before the Mazda RX-Vision concept. On the one hand, a very nice sports car was drawn on the Mazda, and on the other hand, it gave car addicts a small hope that the Wankel engine could come back. Now we have at least such a beautiful sports car concept, with a Wankel engine paired with a hybrid transmission and over a thousand horsepower. However, the most interesting thing is that the concept does not come from Mazda.

One of the designers at Mitsubishi Motors, Maximilian Schneider, dreamed up the Mazda RX-10 concept based on the RX-Vision four years earlier. Its headlights and front grille are reminiscent of the Mazda design world, but other than that, only the logo tells you what it wants to be. The car wouldn’t hang out with today’s super sports cars, and especially not in terms of performance.

All the data is purely a dream and the technique by which Schneider would move the car was never born. It would incorporate a 2.3-liter three-cylinder Wankel engine with the help of a turbo. This system would only be capable of 780 horsepower, and would be complemented by two electric motors built into the front axle, each with 125 horsepower. Therefore, in theory, the total power of the system would be 1,030 horsepower, which would allow the car to reach a rate of one hundred from a standstill in 2.5 seconds. Its top speed is estimated at 427 km / h, making it much more competitive with today’s best sports cars.

The car would have a center engine design so that the front can stay this short. At Mazda, it is not yet known whether they will be made from a similar sports car. It was not even revealed if the Wankel engine would be used like in RX-7 and RX-8 sports cars. It currently only lives as a range extender in an electric SUV, the Mazda MX-30.
