4,440 new coronavirus infections identified in Hungary

The epidemic cannot be stopped, the goal is to stop the epidemic and protect the performance of hospitals. This is the purpose of the new announced emergency protection measures. The rules introduced so far on the use of masks and maintaining distance are still valid. with the obligation to wear a mask in some public areas of a settlement of more than 10,000 inhabitants. It is the responsibility of the mayor to designate the areas. It is not yet mandatory to wear a mask during sports activities, as well as in parks or green areas.

All meetings are prohibited. Restaurants cannot accept guests, they can only stay there to bring food. Hotels cannot accept tourists, only guests arriving for business, economic or educational reasons. It is prohibited to carry out any type of event, including cultural events and Christmas fairs. Sports matches must be held behind closed doors. The use of leisure facilities is prohibited, including in particular fitness rooms, indoor swimming pools, museums, libraries, cinemas and zoos, ice rinks. Nurseries, kindergartens and elementary schools are open up to the eighth grade as usual, with special institutional protection measures determined by the principal. High schools and universities have moved to a digital agenda. The government has issued a decree whereby a fixed Internet access service will be available free of charge for thirty days to students and teachers of digital education in public education and vocational training.

Currently, the Operational Court has ordered extraordinary breaks in 404 kindergartens (15%) and 78 primary schools (3%), digital curricula in 487 primary education classes (19%) and 38 primary schools (1.5%).

Private and family events (ex: birthdays) can be held for up to 10 people. Funerals can be held for up to 50 people. Weddings can be held without a wedding, however only certain people can attend the event.

In Hungary, everyone has a hospital bed, healthcare, a ventilator, and with the protection measures just introduced, the goal is to keep it that way. The protective measures are intended to curb the epidemic and therefore also to protect the performance of medical care. In order to continue providing hospital care to coronavirus patients with a growing number of patients, additional capacity-building measures were ordered: deferred surgeries were suspended, the number of hospitals included in care and hospital beds booked increased. for coronavirus patients.

The government is negotiating a coronavirus vaccine on several fronts so that Hungarians can get vaccinated as soon as possible. and promulgated a decree that simplifies and accelerates the import into Hungary of vaccines and medicines manufactured abroad against the coronavirus. Anyone who has received the official home quarantine order for a stay abroad or for any other reason must strictly comply. Anyone with symptoms should not go into the community but stay home and notify their GP by phone.

Free flu vaccines are already being given as part of health protection. The provision of influenza vaccines to GPs is ongoing.

The protection of elderly and chronic patients is of the utmost importance. Older people are also asked to pay close attention to themselves and general precautions. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is prohibited. And nursing home administrators must do everything possible to prevent infection. If a focal point takes place in a social institution or anywhere else in the community, the epidemiological deployment unit will take the necessary actions.
