3,292 new coronavirus infections were registered

The new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in 3,292 new Hungarian citizens, increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 311,554. Most of the deaths were 113 elderly and chronically patients, bringing the number of deaths to 8,729, the Operational Court said. The number of recovered people is also constantly growing, currently 120,529 people, the number of actively infected people is 182,296 people. 18% of the actively infected, 20% of the dead and 21% of those recovered are from Budapest. 6,382 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, 491 of whom are on ventilators.

The number of infected people continues to grow across Europe, in neighboring countries and in Hungary, with more and more people seeking hospital care. The epidemic cannot be stopped, the goal remains to curb the epidemic and protect the performance of hospitals, they write. This is served by the announced emergency protection measures, which have been extended by the government for one more month, so the current curfew and other protection measures will remain until January 11. To maintain health protection, the government also extended epidemiological preparation for six months.

The government has suspended the curfew for tonight, Christmas Eve, the night of December 24-25, and the limit of 10 people for private events and family gatherings is not included. The government has also suspended flights from Great Britain. The evening curfew will be alive on New Years Eve.

More than 300,000 people have already signed up for vaccinations on the https://vakcinainfo.gov.hu/ website. The government is negotiating the purchase of all possible foreign vaccines, so far it has immobilized 17.5 million doses of vaccines. For the first time, the Pfizer vaccine has received a European pharmacovigilance license, with which vaccinations could begin at the end of December. According to the Vaccination Plan, the vaccination of health workers will begin first, with mass vaccination of the population in 2021. Vaccination will be free and voluntary. The post office will deliver a letter to retirees in December informing them of the possibility of registration by Dr. Cecília Müller, National Medical Director. Retirees can also report their need for coronavirus vaccination by completing and returning the form attached to the letter.

For the benefit of families and businesses, the government has planned the incorporation of an economic protection action plan. The moratorium on the payment of loans for families and companies will be extended by the government for half a year until July 1. The salary subsidy program is complemented. The corporation tax for small and medium-sized businesses and sole proprietors will be cut in half as of January 1. Families raising and expecting children are supported by the government with a discounted home renovation loan of up to HUF 6 million, with a maximum interest rate of 3 percent. Of this amount, 3 million HUF is a non-refundable grant, which can be used at the end of the renewal and automatically reduces the loan amount.

The government has suspended the shopping time zone for seniors so that there is no tumult in stores during Christmas shopping. The suspension will remain in effect until a decision to the contrary is made. It is still mandatory to wear the mask when making a purchase. Older people are asked to ask family members to do the shopping if they can, but if you’re shopping in person, avoid crowded stores!

The protection of elderly and chronic patients is of utmost importance. Older people are also asked to pay close attention to themselves and general precautions. Please note that hospitals and nursing homes are still prohibited from visiting.

In addition to health workers, social workers, police, soldiers and officials involved in defense can also use public transport for free. Free rides require a certificate from the employer stating that the person is performing duties related to the emergency or consequences of a coronavirus pandemic.

Except for tonight, there is still a curfew between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., everyone should be home by 8 p.m. A case of exemption from the curfew is work, which, however, must be justified.

Stores, with the exception of pharmacies and gas stations, can stay open until 7 pm and then open at 5 am at the earliest when the curfew expires. Service providers and services that are not mentioned in the regulations (eg hairdresser, masseuse, personal trainer) can normally operate under the curfew rules.

The regulations introduced so far on the use and maintenance of distance remain in force, with the obligation to wear a mask in some public areas of settlements with more than 10,000 inhabitants. It is the responsibility of the mayor to designate the areas. It is not yet mandatory to wear a mask during sports activities or in parks or green areas.

All meetings are prohibited. Restaurants cannot accept guests, they can only stay there to bring food. The hotel cannot accept tourists, only guests arriving for business, economic or educational reasons. It is prohibited to carry out any type of event, including cultural events and Christmas fairs. Sports matches must be held behind closed doors. The use of leisure facilities, including in particular fitness rooms, indoor swimming pools, museums, libraries, cinemas and zoos, skating rinks is prohibited.

High schools and universities have moved to a digital agenda.

Keeping schools running is still important, so schools are cleaned during winter break, and when necessary, soldiers perform disinfection. Elementary schools will open on January 4, and after a week of winter break at secondary schools, the traditional work schedule is expected to resume on January 11. The measurement of body temperature will continue in schools, and before the start of school, in early January, teachers will be able to take voluntary and free rapid tests, for which it is already possible to register on this site.

Private and family events (eg birthdays) can be held for up to 10 people, excluding children under 14 years of age. Funerals can be held for up to 50 people. Weddings can be held without a wedding, however only certain people can attend the event.

Public parking is free. Commercial P + R, parking lot, parking lot, closed surface parking and non-closed surface parking are available free of charge from 7 pm to 7 am. The facility operator is obliged to allow free parking during this time zone.

The police strictly monitor compliance with the rules, impose fines and close places where regulations are not followed. Soldiers support police work in various cities across the country and ease the burden on health workers at the hospital.

In Hungary, everyone has a hospital bed, care, a ventilator and the goal of protective measures is to keep it that way. In order to continue providing hospital care to coronavirus patients with the growing number of patients, deferred surgeries have been suspended and the number of hospitals included in care and hospital beds reserved for coronavirus patients has been increased.

To curb the spread of the community, we will continue to avoid places where there are many people indoors, preferably maintain social distance, wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Anyone who has received an official home quarantine order for a stay abroad or for any other reason must strictly comply. Anyone with symptoms should not go to the community but stay home and notify their GP by phone.

Free flu shots are already being given as part of health protection. Influenza vaccination is provided to GPs on an ongoing basis.

In addition to maintaining health protection, the government is working on additional economic and family protection measures.
