This trust and this friendship are necessary for many years. The two countries are also linked by common values, human dignity, democracy, the rule of law, and common interests.

“The United States and Germany, as members of the European Union, must stand together so that we can overcome the great challenges of our time,” Angela Merkel said.

He stressed that the United States is Germany’s “most important ally”, but also rightly hopes that Germany and other European partners will do more for its security and uphold its beliefs.

“We Europeans have already embarked on this journey,” Angela Merkel said.

He congratulated Joe Biden, among others, on Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who emphasized that the president-elect represents an America that “values ​​the value of alliances, friends, trust and confidence.”

Joe Biden has high hopes for his presidency, far beyond the borders of the United States, “hope for new cooperation, calm, insightful thinking and constant work to solve the problems of a troubled world,” said the German federal president.

He stressed that Germany is ready to work with the future president “for a better, more peaceful and just world.”
