Hugh Jackman mortified when Ryan Reynolds crashes into original X-Men cast reunion

No matter how hard you try, Ryan Reynolds will never be part of the original X-Men team, though that didn’t stop him from crashing into a cast reunion, much to Hugh Jackman’s dismay.

Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry and Ian McKellen came together for a video call to celebrate 20 years of X Men as part of the Global citizen: United for our future charity concert, which took place yesterday, June 27.

Addressing his former co-stars, Jackman described the situation as “surreal” and said, “I can’t believe 20 years have passed since the first X Men movie.’

Although the cast may have been waiting to remember their days in the original movie, which came out in 2000, the reunion was soon crashed by an uninvited guest.

Reynolds cheerfully appeared on the call, tackling his arrival with a “thump” before expressing delight at seeing “so many stars!” However, the joy was not mutual, apparently, and McKellen quickly dropped the call before Reynolds had a chance to get a good look at him.

The idea that Reynolds’ Marvel character Deadpool wants to join the X-Men has been a long-standing joke in the franchise, and while he did get some airtime alongside the heroes in X-Men Origins: WolverineHe has never officially become a member of the gang.

At one point, Deadpool got so tired of staying out that he tried to create his own group, X-Force, with a group of applicants, but unfortunately that didn’t go too well. RIP Peter.

Jackman tried to push Reynolds out of the meeting, noting that the cast had just “reminded the movie that we are all together”, but unfortunately Reynolds did not receive the message and replied, “I hope it is okay for me to join … I thought that we were all in X Men together.’

Although the meeting was intended to celebrate two decades of the original X MenReynolds later revealed that he had brought with him other familiar faces from the long franchise, including James McAvoy and Sophie Turner.

Reynolds emphasized that “it didn’t matter” since they had all starred in one X Men movie or another, although Turner admitted that he thought the call was for a game of Thrones meeting.

Before long, the stars began making up excuses to get out of the messed up call, with Janssen and Berry claiming they had a James Bond meeting, McAvoy disappearing to meet with the cast of Divisionand Stewart heads to meet his ex Star Trek co-stars

Although the call was obviously a failure, Reynolds kept a smile on his face as he commented, “That fell apart quickly.” With only Jackman and Reynolds on the call, Reynolds noted that it had turned into a reunion for a completely different movie, with Liev Schreiber popping up to exclaim. ‘X-Men Origins gather!’

Seems like that was the drop that filled the glass for Jackman, and the call quickly ended there. The screen was blacked out in praise of the “true superheroes” who have been working on the front lines during the coronavirus pandemic.

At some point in the not too distant future, the hard work of all the world’s citizens will create a healthier, safer and more equitable world. To all first responders, essential workers and those fighting for racial justice: I admire your efforts this year and support them.

While the actors may not have been interested in dating Reynolds, the call was for a great cause as part of the charity concert aimed at raising funds for development and distribution of supplies to help combat the coronavirus.
