- NASCAR racing will be back in action on Sunday, May 17, at 3:30 p.m., for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic shut down action in mid-March.
- So far, the stock-car racing body has released schedules for May and June, featuring, among others, the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 25, at 6:00 p.m. ET.
- NASCAR will be live on Fox, MRN radio, and SiriusXM’s NASCAR Radio channel. So the only thing missing, thanks to the pandemic, will be spectators.
If you want to watch live sports on TV right now, here’s your choice: NASCAR. And it is about to be back for the first time in more than two months, debuting Sunday, May 17, at 3:30 p.m. ET on Fox. It’ll be a 400-mile race in NASCAR’s Cup Series at Darlington Raceway, and it will take place in the safest possible manner: essential personnel only, with no spectators allowed.
Check NASCAR’s newly revised schedule for May and June to make sure you have all the dates. The schedule includes Cup, Xfinity, and Gander Trucks events but also have seen some revisions and postponements. The first set of races NASCAR will be in Darlington and runs from May 17 to 20. The second weekend of racing will be in Charlotte from May 24 to 27. A few events, including May and early June races at Kansas Speedway, Michigan International Speedway , Mid-Ohio, and Texas Motor Speedway’s Gander Trucks race, have been postponed.

NASCAR issued a statement on Thursday saying: “All races will be strictly tailored, in every way, to follow specific guidelines set by the Centers for Disease and Prevention. Event procedures will be significantly modified,” and protective equipment, health screenings, and social distancing protocols will be followed, NASCAR said.
You’ll want to refer to the NASCAR list for where to watch individual races, as some events are on the FS1 TV network and others on Fox. If you’re more of a radio person, you can listen on SiriusXM’s NASCAR channel or the Motor Racing Network (MRN) on your local radio affiliate. NASCAR said it will also stream races through its mobile apps and website, meaning you can watch the return of motor racing just about anywhere.
Except in the stands, of course: fans are excluded from all events for now.
