KFC is reopening 100 branches across the UK for delivery and takeaways, but unfortunately Merseyside is not on the list.
But if you are despairing of a KFC-style solution, we’ve figured out how you can make their famous sauce at home and it couldn’t be easier.
Recipe box company Gousto has developed some KFC-inspired meals and the first is its sauce, which pairs perfectly with fried chicken, or even Sunday roast, reports WalesOnline.
Jordan Moore, senior recipe developer at Gousto, said: “We hear that a certain colonel says that the secret to his favorite takeaway sauce is to use the drippings at the bottom of the chicken skillet as his sauce base. But don’t worry – olive oil works just as well. “
And Jordan has a tip for future batches. He said, “We found that freezing leftover drips in a covered container means they’re ready to pick up and use whenever you want, adding a spicy umami kick to your sauce.”
Here we show you how to prepare KFC-style sauce in three steps, using only four ingredients.
Ingredients
Method
Dissolve the bouillon cube and Marmite in 450 ml of boiled water.
Add the fried chicken juice (or olive oil) to a saucepan over medium heat. Once hot, add the flour and cook for 30 seconds until a sandy paste forms.
Add broth to skillet and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened to a sauce-like consistency.
