How Harry Styles’ ‘Watermelon Sugar”s First No. 1 single was on the Hot 100


This year was already an incredibly fruitful one for Harry Styles on Billboard charts, thanks to the constant success of his Billboard 200 No. 1 album Fine Line and his top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Adore You.” But now, he’s scaled up to new heights – garnishing his first no. 1 on the Hot 100 with the Nice single “Watermelon Sugar.”

In the latest Pop Shop Podcast (listen below) the team describes exactly how “Watermelon Sugar” from no. 7 to no. 1 went on the August 15 chart, the wild success of the tune on the radio in recent months and what helped make “Watermelon Sugar” such a smash hit.

Until now, since Fine LineReleasing December last year, the set is yet to leave the top 25 on the weekly Billboard 200 chart, and has earned more than 1.6 million equivalent album units in the US, according to Nielsen Music / MRC Data. Meanwhile, the album’s songs, including “Sugar”, have generated 1.34 billion streams on demand.
