House to vote on a resolution to remove President Trump from office by the 25th Amendment

Maryland’s Democratic Rep. The resolution, introduced by Jamie Raskin, urges Vice President Mike Pence to use his powers under Article 4 of the 25th Amendment to summon and consolidate the chief executives of the executive branch in the cabinet. It is clear to a frightening nation: that the President is incapable of carrying out his duties successfully. ”

He calls on Pence to assume “the powers and duties of office as acting president.”

The approval of the resolution by the Democratic-led House will be a symbolic rebuke to the president as many legislators are outraged by the deadly attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters seeking to overturn the 2020 election results.

It turns out that the House Democrats are now rapidly moving in the direction of immigrating the president for a second time as a result of the uprising, which Trump repeatedly called on his supporters to fight back after falsely claiming that the election had been stolen from him.

House Democrats plan to vote Wednesday to impeach Trump, House Majority Leader Stanny Hoyer said in a caucus call on Monday, a week after rioters seized control of the Capitol police and violated some of the Capitol’s most secure areas.

The House will vote Tuesday evening on a resolution calling on Pence to remove Trump from the 25th Amendment, and then plan to vote on the impeachment resolution by 9 a.m. Wednesday, Hoyer said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement Monday that Democrats are asking the vice president to respond “within 24 hours of the passage” of the 25th Amendment resolution.

A majority of Pence and a majority cabinet to introduce the 25th Amendment would require Trump to vote to remove him from office because of his inability to dissolve his fee powers and duties – an unprecedented move. Pence has not yet given any indication that he will take this step.

Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called Pence a day after the Capitol attack to discuss the 25th Amendment – but Pence never took the ballot after being on hold for 25 minutes.

“At least. Of course, I was – I was at home, so I was running the dishwasher, putting my clothes in the laundry. We’re still waiting for his call to come back,” he told CBS on Sunday night.

In his statement Monday, Pelosi said “as a next step, the House Democrats will move forward with bringing the impeachment law to the floor.”

On Monday, Democrats tried to pass the 25th Amendment resolution unanimously, but it was blocked by Republicans.

Pelosi accused House Republicans of “enabling the president to continue his acts of unfamiliar, unstable and heinous treason,” he added, adding that “their complexity threatens America, destroys our democracy and must end.”
