Here are all the prizes, And how can they earn

I think this may be the first lawsuit I’ve ever seen that deals with it, but this is exactly what Fortnite roulette. Developer Epic Games is embroiled in a major legal dispute with Apple over the iPhone maker’s cut of 30% of all App Store purchases, and it’s a bit of a party to theoretically swing public pressure. The ‘Free Fortnite’ Cup is in this weekend, August 23rd Fortnite, where players will compete for some of the most generous prizes the company has awarded in the game’s three-year history. Let’s take a look.

For starters, the cup is today August 23, 2020. It will run from 3: 00-7: 00 PM in your local time zone, so people in different parts of the world will experience it at different “real” times.

The main prize to be offered is the skin “Tart Tycoon”, a rotten Apple meant to denounce the corruption of a once revolutionary company in the face of monopolistic greed, a sentence I can hardly believe I type . It is available to everyone based on a points system: 10 points you get the skin, and points are awarded based on the following rules:

  • Victory Royale: 10 points
  • Each elimination: 1 point
  • Every three (3) minutes spent in a game while not eliminating: 1 point

The last bullet means that this prize will be fairly easy to get by anyone who has just camped for 2 or so matches and gets 30 minutes of playing time.

Next up we have the hat ‘Free Fortnite’, which has a Llama with the same color as the Apple logo. The top scoring players in their respective regions – a total of 20,000 – will receive the hat.

However, the favorite prizes are awarded based on “eating apples” in the game. The players who eat the most Apple get some gaming hardware, the idea is that they can use that hardware to play Fortnite after iOS was left behind in season 3. Here is what to offer:

  • Alienware Gaming Laptop®
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7®
  • OnePlus 8®
  • PlayStation 4 Pro®
  • Xbox One X®
  • Nintendo Switch®
  • Razer® Gaming Laptop

And it turns out, based on early data, that the process of eating apples in the game is the same as usual, that you eat them in basically the same way that you would eat them in any normal game: look for them on ‘ the ground and chowing down.

What this means in real terms is that the Orchard towards the center of the island, just north of Frenzy Farm, will become an absolute mess. These are where the good apples can be found, and expect the early moments of every game to become an absolute splatfest as people try to claim this valuable trait so they can crawl as many apples in their faces as possible.

There are other apples around the map, although no other location comes very close to the Orchard’s bounty, there are other places to get them. Catty Corner and The Yacht both spawned fruit boxes, and Pleasant Park also has some apple trees. Also check south of the Authority.

Just be warned that four hours of eating apples is unlikely to yield you any prizes, as these prizes, as usual, will go to a small slice of the best players out there. There will be a total of 1,200 pieces of hardware, distributed to the players who eat the most apples in their respective region. For the full breakdown of how many players from each region will receive the prizes, see the official rules.

Those are the basics. You probably won’t get a hat or a piece of hardware, but basically anyone who comes up to play can grab themselves a Tart Tycoon skin, making this one of the most generating events the game has ever held. I have long thought that Epic should introduce tiered rewards that give a wider section of the player base a chance to earn some fun in tournaments, but I had no idea it would take a bizarre public legal battle to do so.
