“He took as little money as possible” – Jorge Masvidal excavates Gilbert Burns

As Jorge Masvidal continues to fight for the salary he deserves, Gilbert Burns will seize his opportunity as he prepares to meet Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title at UFC 251.

However, he apparently has no problem with that. Explaining the entire saga of conversations with the UFC, Jorge posted an interview on his YouTube channel. He said,

“There is not much to say. They promised me the place for several months. And they just wanted me to have the place. After the fight, many revelations have emerged about how much [money] are willing to put for me to be [a] part of the event. ”

“But then they offered me considerably less money than I should have received. It doesn’t work. And then they offered the boy the least amount of money he would take, too. So that’s what they do. They offered it to me, and then after I said no, they offered me a couple more people until they got to Gilbert. “

Gilbert Burns was not the first replacement for Jorge Masvidal

Apparently, the UFC tried to bring up other names before choosing ‘Durniho’ for the title shot. Of course, it makes sense to pit someone else against Kamaru, given that Gilbert recently entered the Octagon with Tyron Woodley.

Additionally, there are many others online for welterweight gold, such as Leon Edwards. Given the fact that the fight will take place on Fight Island, it would not have been completely impossible to bring in fighters like Edwards. Masvidal said:

Masvidal stated that he does not need to fight for money as he is fine. However, he said he fights because he loves it, and expects a healthy award from the organization he is fighting for.
