He is 102 years old. She won the 1918 flu and has now beaten the coronavirus – twice

And now, a 102-year-old New York resident did it again. She survived a second confirmed coronavirus diagnosis, according to her daughter, Joan Merola, who spoke to CNN affiliate WPIX.

“My invincible mother tested negative,” Merola said.

CNN reached out to North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing Center where Friedman lives but has not yet heard back.

Angelina Friedman celebrates her 101st birthday.

Friedman’s first diagnosis was made in March after he went to the hospital for a minor medical procedure, administrator Amy Alba told CNN earlier this year. When he returned, he tested positive, Alba said.

At the time, she spent a week in hospital before returning to solitude in her room. With the fever going on and off for several weeks, Friedman finally tested negative on April 20, Merola told WPIX.

In late October, Merola received a call from the nursing home, telling the affiliate, “Tell me she has tested positive again.”

“Her symptoms were – fever, dry cough,” Merola said. “They thought she might have the flu, too.”

With more staff and residents being sick, Merola said older residents were kept in seclusion. She received daily updates about her mother until November 17, when she received news that Friedman had tested negative.

The second test confirmed negative results, and Friedman was moved back to his regular room from solitude.

While she has lost most of her hearing and her vision is impaired, she is still celebrating life.

“She’s a mover and a shaker,” Alba told CNN earlier this year.

Friedman was named the Promoting Queen at the nursing home last year.

Friedman’s enthusiasm certainly did not come without some difficulties.

In 1918, Angelina Seals (now Friedman) was born on a ship transporting immigrants from Italy to New York City. It was in the midst of the 1918 epidemic. It is not believed that the child has been infected.

Merola told WPIX earlier this year that her mother had died in childbirth, and her two sisters helped save her until she reunited with her father in New York, Merola told WPIX earlier this year.

Merola’s mother and father fought cancer at the same time, but her father died.

One of 11 children, Friedman is finally alive.

Yet Friedman continues to be a source of joy and entertainment for those around him. It is a large ethnic and makes all sorts of things for visitors. She got a big party for her 101st birthday and was crowned the prom queen last year.

“He’s not the oldest to save Kovid, but he could be the oldest to live twice,” Merola told WPIX.
