A spokesman said the New Confirm year old had tested positive for the Covid-19 at the Wendy Correctional Facility in New York.

Weinstein, who is serving a 23-year sentence for rape, has a fever, his correspondent confirmed to the PA news agency.

The once all-powerful filmmaker is thought to be susceptible to coronavirus due to his age, weight and other medical problems, including heart condition and high blood pressure.

A spokesman for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Oversight said they could not comment on individual cases but that anyone with Covid-19 symptoms was immediately isolated and tested.

Weinstein’s health was the focus during his trial. He appeared in court looking weak and using a wallet, and his lawyers tried to reduce his prison sentence by telling a judge to extend his “prison sentence.”

Following his February 24 surprise, Weinstein was sent to Bellevue Hospital amid concerns about high blood pressure and heart rate.

Weinstein is also facing charges of sexual harassment in Lone Angeles and assaulting five women in California from 2004 to 2013.

If convicted on the West Coast, Weinstein faces up to 140 years in a state prison.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles are trying to put Weinstein on trial and are seeking temporary custody of the convicted rapist from New York.

An extradition hearing is set for December in Buffalo. In September, Weinstein was stripped of his CBE.
