Halo Infinite includes backtracking in extended areas

Halo Infinite Is Not Quite Open World

During a recent interview, associate creative director for Halo Infinite Paul Crocker stated that the game is not quite an open world, but it will have expanded areas. Fans of Halo can also expect that they will be backtracking a bit through these worlds, perhaps placing different perspectives of the planets. The worlds of Halo Infinite will apparently have many areas to unlock when the plot is missing and discover new things from the paved path. Halo Infinite will be released later this year for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Windows PC and it will feature in the extensive Game Pass lineup.

“It takes place in an enormous world that is open and expansive,” Paul Crocker said. “We have a storyline that draws you through, that effectively unlocks certain areas. But, as you go along, you have the ability to retrieve and explore the contents of your heart. There is a lot to be found in the world. ‘ It will be interesting to see what 343 Industries has hidden from the paved path for Halo fans to discover, but our main interest is in how big these areas will be in the campaign.

Talking about optional exploration can benefit the player, said design chief Jerry Hook, “[Master] Chief, if he explores the ring, he will find more equipment. He will always find ways to upgrade that equipment. And, it’s not all about power, but it’s about options for the player. We want to ensure that players can make the choice to be successful in the way they want to play the game. “After watching the campaign demo during the recent Xbox game showcase, it’s not surprising to hear that Master Chief will have a whole arsenal in the final installment in the legendary franchise.
