Halo Infinite dev considered following the decline of Xbox One, further delay until 2022

Nothing seems to be off the table for 343 Industries when it comes to Halo Infinite.

Since the Halo infinite delays, theories and reports on what went wrong in development at 343 Industries have dropped left and right. Some suggested that the development of the game was heavily outsourced, making it more difficult for a unified vision to assemble.

Others, like Resetera forum member Sponger, are more concerned with what 343 would do after it now even bought more time. According to Sponger, the team is currently looking into possibly making the game a next gen / PC exclusive, and fully supports Xbox One.

Having a version of Infinite for a console that is more than seven years old, in particular the technical ambitions of Infinite, proves difficult. According to her, the current build on Xbox One has issues with loading into assets in the open world of the game, apparently even more so than the PC demo we saw, which had all sorts of pop-ins.

Either changing the engine further to make Infinite somehow good on Xbox One, or dropping it potentially in favor of focusing on Xbox Series X and PC will not be an easy task, and the same user suggests a further delay to 2022 is not unlikely.

Although no one else has yet to verify Sponger’s specific claims, a Resetera moderator has said they believe the user is “in a position to know such things are possible.” It goes without saying that you should take what they said with a pinch of salt.
