Big news, everyone: NASA Says It will unveil “an exciting new discovery about the moon” on Monday. Any guesses about what it will be?

The space agency’s sneak peek announcement is sparse on the links, but it references Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (Sofia). Unless NASA leads us to chase wild goose, Sofia – a Boeing 7 747 SP jumbo jet equipped with a 9-foot-long telescope – may have contributed to the discovery. As NASA points out in its advisory, “Sophia observes in infrared wavelengths and can detect an impossible phenomenon to see with visible light.”

Another possible key: Media Advisor mentions the Artemis program. NASA is currently planning to send a man and a woman to the South Polar region in 2024. The new discovery clearly “contributes to NASA’s efforts to learn about the moon in support of deep space exploration.”

Hmm, what could that be?

We will be looking for EDT (9:00 am PDT) on Monday, October 26 at 12:00 PM. In the medium term, let’s have some fun guessing.
