Governor Ron DeSantis extends thanks to Walt Disney World and Universal Executives for Theme Park Round Table Conference

Following yesterday’s Round One “, One Florida” round table, Governor Ron DeSantis thanked both Universal Orlando Resort and Disney Vice President Hollywood Studios Jackie Swisher for their participation.

Governor DeSantis said it was “great at” Universal Orlando, which was the round table. Universal delivered a surprising appearance by Professor Dr. Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome, one of the characters from the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at CityWalk.

The governor also gave Swisher special thanks, with a quote she said on the round table:

We did not know exactly how the magic would play out when we planned to open up with all these new health and safety protocols. What’s great is that the magic is definitely back.

Both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando have introduced new policies to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, including temperature controls for guests entering the theme parks, including wearing face masks, frequent car cleaning, and reduced capacity.

At the press conference, Governor DeSantis said the state of Florida was “comfortable” with theme parks that increase capacity, given the security measures that are in place, although no resort has announced plans to do so. While things may have looked favorable for the parks so far after the massive hit of the pandemic, thousands of workers are still on extended feet.
