A video of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis bragging about Florida’s success in fighting the coronavirus pandemic has shamefully resurfaced as the state now struggles with a surge in new cases and continues to break single-day records, recording the A whopping 8,942 new infections on Friday.
The undated clip was filmed “last month” according to Ahmed Baba, co-founder, president and editor-in-chief of Rantt Media, who posted the video on Twitter.
“Our data is available, our data is transparent, in fact, Dr. Birx has spoken several times about how Florida has the best absolute data, so any hint to the contrary is a typical partisan narrative trying to be spun” DeSantis said in the video.
“Part of the reason is that because there are so many people in your profession who talked poetically for weeks and weeks about how Florida was going to be like New York, wait two weeks and Florida will be next like Italy, wait two weeks. Well, heck, we’re eight weeks away from that and it hasn’t happened, ”DeSantis continues, using a smug voice as he remembers detractors before triumphantly proclaiming that Florida has gotten rid of the vicious impact of the virus.
DeSantis then brags about the state’s low death rate compared to the Midwest, Northeast, and South, pointing to states like Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, many of which are now facing A similar revival.
“Florida has the lowest mortality rate, and I was the number one landing site for tens of thousands of people who left the world’s number one hot zone to come to my state, so we were successful,” says DeSantis at the video, referring to a massive exodus of New Yorkers to the state of the sun at the height of the pandemic.
“I think people just don’t want to acknowledge it because it challenges their narrative, it challenges their assumption, so they should try to find a boogie man. Maybe there are black helicopters surrounding the health department, if you think so, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I would like to sell you, ”said DeSantis.
On Friday, Florida reported a staggering 8,942 new cases of coronavirus, nearly doubling its previous record. established two days before and causing an immediate closure of alcohol consumption in bars.
