Google has signed with five new developers to create exclusive titles for its Stadia cloud gaming service. Two of those five already have fully completed projects, with one ready for launch.
Developer Splash Damage, who developed the recent Microsoft exclusive Gear Tactics, you are now making an online multiplayer game called Outcasters, while popular tower defense and strategy studio Robot Entertainment has its third installment in its Orcs must die! series coming to Stadia today as part of the Stadia Pro subscription or for $ 29.99. (Orcs must die! 3 It was previously announced as a Stadia exclusive in August 2019).
But the biggest news, part of the larger Google Stadia Connect event on Tuesday, is that Google has partnered with Rock band developer Harmonix and Until sunrise Studio Supermassive Games to bring exclusive games to the platform at some point in the future. Also included in their upcoming exclusive list is a new title from the lesser-known studio Uppercut Games, known for popular mobile and cross-platform games such as Epoch and Submerged.
It’s not entirely clear what kind of games these will be or how far along the development process is for any of these studios, but it’s reassuring to see Stadia get some high-profile names for her growing lineup. The company caught the head of studio at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio, Shannon Studstill, in March to manage its new office in Playa Vista, California, and is currently working with Stadia’s head of content, Jade Raymond, on building a Internal studio network to build exclusives that take advantage of Google’s cloud platform.
