MetLife Stadium may host soccer this fall, but it won’t happen with fans in attendance.

The Giants and Jets will play their home games in front of empty seats “until further notice,” the teams said in a joint statement Monday, citing New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s decision that crowds would not be allowed to open air of more than 500 people. to COVID-19.

The training camps, which will begin in earnest next week, will also take place without the attendance of fans.

Monday’s announcement comes as the NBA, NHL, and MLB will start playing again without the attendance of fans. The NFL had previously said each team would determine if fans could participate in the games this fall, with guidance from local and state officials. The Ravens and Jaguars have announced plans to allow fans to enter reduced capacities with strict protocols.

“We urge our fans to continue to take the necessary precautions recommended by health officials to stay safe and look forward to seeing them at MetLife Stadium as soon as possible,” the statement from the Giants and Jets said.
