Ghost of Tsushima occupies n. # 1 as Paper Mario slides through the UK charts

Animal Crossing: New Horizons returns to No.2

PS4’s exclusive Ghost of Tsushima retains its number 1 spot on the UK physical charts, despite a 68% drop in sales week to week.

It’s a pretty standard drop in sales for the second week of an AAA game. The game’s performance continues largely in line with Days Gone, which was Sony’s great new IP of 2019.

The other great game from last week was Paper Mario: The Origami King for the Nintendo Switch, which suffered a similar drop of 64% week-to-week. The game falls from No.2 to No.4 as a result. This drop in the second week means it is now the second best-selling Paper Mario game behind the 2007 Super Paper Mario on the Nintendo Wii (last week it was a follow-up to all previous Paper Mario games). Note: Digital data is not included in this chart, and The Origami King is available through the Nintendo eShop download store, while Super Paper Mario was only physically available, so no sales comparisons are currently possible real.

Replacing Paper Mario at No. 2 is another Nintendo game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which climbs to No. 2 despite an 8% drop in sales week to week.

There are no new games on the UK retail physical charts this week. In fact, the box game market will be very quiet for the next six weeks before the big games coming out in September. In fact, the most notable releases to come are the LEGO Mario sets coming out this week, though those won’t appear in our market data reports.
