Ghost Of Tsushima has sold faster than any other new IP on PS4

Sony is celebrating another successful PS4 exclusive launch, this time praising the initial bestseller success of Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima.

The new open-world IP has sold more than 2.4 million copies in the first three days of launch. This makes it Sony’s new best-selling original IP, with the previous registration belonging to Horizon Zero Dawn. This also places Ghost of Tsushima ahead of other PS4 exclusives, such as Bloodborne, Days Gone, and Knack in terms of initial sales. Yes, he managed to beat Knack, the best game of all the time.

This figure is still much lower than what Sony has seen with sequels to established first-hand titles. Released in June, The Last of Us: Part II sold more than 4 million copies in its first three days, beating out previous record holder Marvel’s Spider-Man, which sold 3.3 million copies in the same period. . Both games are also set to receive follow-ups on the PS5, with Spider-Man: Miles Morales launching later this year and Horizon Forbidden West coming in 2021. With the PS4’s massive install base, though, it’s unlikely that the first PS5 games can to achieve those high figures.

Ghost of Tsushima is Sucker Punch’s first new IP since the release of Infamous in 2009, and its first game since the release of Infamous First Light, a standalone expansion of Infamous Second Son, in 2014. Despite being a routine game open-world, he still manages to get excited about his surroundings, with our 7/10 review of Ghost of Tsushima saying, “Ghost of Tsushima is best when you ride a horse and enjoy the beautiful world on your own terms, armed with a sword and a screenshot button, allowing environmental cues and your own curiosity to guide you. “
