If there is something that people who have been following Ghost of Tsushima since its 2017 reveal have been waiting for, it is running around 13th century Japan dressed as a proto-ninja and causing fear in the hearts of the Mongolian army. Protagonist Jin, in his striking black custom samurai armor, has been a huge part of Ghost of Tsushima’s marketing, clearly done to illustrate the masked vigilante he is set to become to defeat the threat that invades his home. As such it is obvious that you would like to equip yourself with this radical looking armor set, known in-game as the Ghost armor–as soon as possible.
But if you’ve been playing Ghost of Tsushima, it may be a bit surprising to realize that Ghost Armor isn’t unlocked from the start. Then you may be wondering, “When does Jin get the Ghost Armor?”
To answer this question, you get Ghost Armor the moment you start From the mission of the history of Darknessat the end of act 2. We won’t spoil the circumstances that justify receiving the set, but we know you have to get through half the story to get the Ghost Armor. For guidance on how to get to this point in the story, be sure to check out our Ghost of Tsushima Act 2 tutorial. Lastly, it’s worth noting that when you get the Ghost Armor, it doesn’t look like it does on the cover and the promotional art until you create your second update.
All of this may seem like a bummer, but there are plenty of other fantastic sets of armor for the end of Act 2, many of which are as useful as they are aesthetically pleasing. If you’re curious about each armor set, be sure to check out our Ghost of Tsushima armor guide.
When it comes to the benefits of Ghost Armor, it should come as no surprise that it rewards stealth players. When equipped, it reduces the enemy’s detection speed, the number of kills required to enter the powerful Phantom Position, and even increases the chances of terrorizing a nearby enemy after killing some of their friends.
