Zoomlion Ghana Limited has disinfected second cycle schools in all 15 city and district assemblies in the Upper East region, as schools will reopen soon.
This is the third phase of the disinfection exercise that is part of efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus among students.
The exercise is in line with the COVID-19 preventive measures led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the health authorities.
The team disinfected classrooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, function rooms, and seating areas.
In Kassena-Nankana municipality, the disinfected schools were Navrongo, Notre Damme, Awe, St. Johns and OLL secondary schools.
School officials were delighted that the third phase of disinfection was carried out.
Awe Senior High School Principal Thomas Kanlisi stated that exercise, from the beginning, has helped to keep unwanted pests out of the school environment.
Therefore, he urged the authorities to carry out the exercise frequently to continuously keep the environment safe.
“I want to thank the government of Ghana, the Ghana Education Service and of course Zoom Lion. This is the third time they are here. Awe Senior High School, as we all know, is located next to a forest. So most of the time, we face the challenge of reptiles and other animals. But since this exercise began, we have sighed a kind of relief. We hope the government continues to have Zoom Lion always visit us to disinfect our school. It must be done frequently ”. Mr. Kansili urged.
Clemencia Zizinga, Assistant Principal -Domestic, of Navrongo Senior High School, said that the previous disinfections at the school have been helpful as they “created a serene environment and teaching and learning were carried out effectively.
He added that disinfection played a role in ensuring that the school did not register a case of COVID-19.
Ms Zizinga said the school was still committed to fighting the Coronavirus, and said that all other necessary measures, in addition to disinfection, have been put in place when the students return.
Zoom Lion Regional Deputy Director Issaka Abubakar, who praised the schools’ collaboration through the exercise, said Zoom Lion would also disinfect all secondary schools in the region.
He said the disinfection would take a week to complete, and expressed the hope that the students would have a very safe environment for effective academic work.
“At Navrongo we are expected to disinfect about six secondary schools and then after disinfection the basic school would follow. We are expected to disinfect about 80 basic schools in Navrongo. “
“The disinfection is to ensure the safety of the students who will be presented on October 5 so that they can carry out their usual school activities.”
