Zinedine Zidane has won the Champions League and La Liga as a player and coach at Real Madrid
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has demanded “respect” from journalists and says his team is still in the running for the La Liga title.
The reigning Real Champions occupy third place, 10 points behind the leader Atlético de Madrid, but after having played one more game.
And a recent losing streak has led to media scrutiny of the French manager’s position at the club.
“What makes me laugh is you ask me why I might be upset,” Zidane said at a news conference on Friday.
“I don’t deserve to be treated like this by the press. We won the league last season and I expect a little respect.
“We have earned the right to fight for La Liga this season, at least give us the season. Next season, changes will have to be made, but this year, the team that won the league last season, let’s fight for.” this year too.

The 48-year-old joins Huesca, the bottom of La Liga, on Saturday (15:15 GMT) after missing the most recent loss against Levante due to a positive Covid-19 test.
“I’ve been locked in a cage for two weeks, I can’t wait to come out and show that I’m going to fight to the end,” he added.
Injured captain Sergio Ramos will again be absent from Real Madrid, and Zidane will include three goalkeepers in his 17-man squad for the game.
Eden Hazard, Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo and Lucas Vázquez will also be absent due to injuries, while Eder Militao is suspended.
