Zinedine Zidane has been named winner of the Miguel Muñoz Trophy, which awards MARCA to the best coach of LaLiga Santander for the 2019/20 season.
The Frenchman, who shares this year’s trophy with Sevilla Julen Lopetegui, guided Real Madrid to their first LaLiga Santander title in three seasons.
Los Blancos returned from the running of the bulls in June with work to do in the title race, but won 10 of their last 11 LaLiga Santander games to lead Barcelona to the crown.
“I did not say [my players] long after the confinement, “admitted Zidane,” because what the players wanted to do was go back to playing football and they did it in a spectacular way.
“I think they were hungry to finish the league [season] and finish it like champions and that’s what they did. This award is entirely for them. “
This season, Real Madrid have started the campaign inconsistently but continue to seek to regain the title, although Zidane is optimistic for the rest of the LaLiga Santander campaign.
“What we can replicate is the effort,” Zidane added. “Believe in what we are doing and nothing more. The rest is consequence.
“If we give everything on the field, then we can achieve things because we are very good.”
