Multi-award-winning Fante rapper Martin King Arthur, popularly known in show business as Kofi Kinaata, has observed that today’s generation of young people and musicians resist working hard to get to the top.
Speaking in an interview on Y97.9FM Takoradi’s Dryve of Your Lyfe with Nana Quasi Wusu (PM), Kofi Kinaata explained that this generation is full of young people who feel entitled to everything. This came after he was asked if he had any advice for young talents who refuse to go on music reality shows because they think it is not beneficial.
He commented that, “This era that we are in now is of a different breed of youth. We are the only race that when you finish teaching us a new job skill, we want you to go the extra mile to build a store for us and even more to advertise us. We don’t know what the service is. That we will serve someone so that, in the long run, they will reward us. We feel entitled to everything.
This batch is the only one you will see where they are all motivational speakers. When you open Facebook, you will see us there with motivational messages like ‘I started my poultry farm with a pen’ or ‘I started my rice business with a grain of rice’ and so we are ”.

According to Kofi Kinaata, reality shows are like a catapult to the music scene and are very useful for building a fan base; however, young people need to know what type of reality TV to choose.
He detailed that there are guys like Mentor, Hitmaker and the like who employ experienced and music-inclined people to train contestants, therefore these reality shows produce well-polished artists who enter the music scene and do it better.
The ‘zongo’ reality shows on the other hand, which are put together by ordinary folks with no experience in the music field, don’t exactly have the ability to catapult these young acts into the spotlight.
