Political Science Professor Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has criticized the founder and leader of the Ghana Trade Union Movement (GUM), Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiriabosom, over his presidential ambitions.
Dr. Amoako Baah told Neat FM that conversations about how the country works should be reserved for serious minds who understand the economy and other sectors of the country.
He noted that certain personalities who have expressed interest in the presidency lack the necessary knowledge to govern the country.
He claimed that unlike the 2016 election, where the odds were hugely in Akufo-Addo’s favor, some Ghanaians are still undecided about who they should vote for.
“This electoral cycle is not like the previous one. The latter was well defined. The incumbent was in trouble, but this is different. Now people are still deciding whether they should vote for party A or party B. I had a conversation with some people and they said they were going to vote for Kyiriabosom. “
“So I explained things to them about someone who says that we should print new notes if the cedi does not perform well against the dollar. How can someone who doesn’t even understand elementary economics be president? ”.
Amoako Baah has been a fierce critic of the Akufo-Addo administration, expressing dissenting views on various government issues, but still maintains that Akufo-Addo is a better option than Mahama.
In the Neat FM interview he admitted that he has reservations about the Akufo-Addo government, but among him (Akufo-Addo) Mahama, the president is better than his predecessor.
“Yes, things did not go exactly the way you wanted in the Akufo-Addo government; a lot of unhappy people, but that does not mean that you vote against the ruling party.
“Personally, I do not agree with him (Akufo-Addo) on many things, but Mahama cannot govern efficiently and it is not because of politics; he just cannot do it. Nana Addo should be able to continue; he is the only one who can “Hinted the professor of Political Science.
