The Democratic National Congress and its standard-bearer John Dramani Mahama have been reprimanded by veteran journalist Kweku Baako for incorporating into his manifesto the murders of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale and former Abuakwa North MP JB Danquah Adu.
The NDC in its manifesto named the murder of the two people among a list of high-profile unsolved crimes it will investigate.
The party also promised to compensate the families of the late investigative journalist and the legislator.
John Dramani Mahama, the NDC standard bearer said, “We will begin an investigation into the death of Ahmed Suale and other unsolved issues, including the murder of JB Danquah.”
Addressing the issue as a panelist on Peace FM’s morning show, Baako said he has a challenge with including those two cases in the manifesto.
The Crusading Guide editor-in-chief chided the NDC for trying to politicize investigations into the deaths of the two figures.
Baako could not understand why the NDC will make such a promise when the matters are currently being investigated in the court of law.
On a regular basis in Baako, the veteran journalist unearthed what he considers a party error in the Ya Na case, incorporating it into their 2008 manifesto but not executing it.
Baako was not enthusiastic about the party’s preference for having a political lunch with controversial cases.
“I have a certain challenge with him and it is not the first time. In the 2008 manifesto, they captured the Ya Na case in their manifesto. I have no difficulty projecting these things in the context of a state of the nation speech, but I’m not quite sure if it’s in the right place if it’s a manifesto. “
“The Ya Na issue was controversial and they insisted on creating a presidential commission because they did not believe in the commission created by Kufuor. I remember that they even ridiculed the members of that commission. They made a 180 degree turn while they were in government because the presidential commission did not happen even though there were prosecutions. I thought they would have learned their lesson but they have added it to their manifesto. “
