The mythical coach has explained how to deal with the World Cup winner at a delicate moment for both the player and the club

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Manchester United should better handle the Paul Pogba situation.

The midfielder came into the spotlight last week when agent Mino Raiola revealed that the long-term future of the World Cup winner is not in the club.

The news broke 24 hours before a critical Champions League match with RB Leipzig, which United later lost 3-2.

Pogba, amid a storm of criticism, was left out of the starting lineup on that occasion and had a positive impact when he hit the field, almost helping his team secure an unlikely point after they trailed 3-0.

And compatriot Wenger believes that the Red Devils’ management of the 27-year-old, who remains linked to a return to Juventus, should have been stronger.

“I think you have to explain to a player that no matter what his future plan is, his interest and his job is to act for the current club,” Wenger said. ESPNPodcast ‘Caught Offside’.

“It is the best way to prepare for your future, to play well in the present.

“When I saw Pogba arrive on Tuesday night at RB Leipzig, I was sorry that he did not start the game because he immediately had a big impact.”

Meanwhile, Pogba started the Manchester derby on Saturday, which ended in a goalless draw that does not benefit either club’s title hopes.

Meanwhile, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised the attitude of the club’s academy product.

“There have been other players who refuse to train and refuse to play; They’re not here anymore, of course, but Paul hasn’t done it once, ”he said.

“He has the quality and the desire to do well when he comes in, like he did against Leipzig, when he had a positive impact.”

“I have always fought and will always fight for Manchester United, my teammates and the fans,” Pogba said via an Instagram post on Saturday. “The future is far away, today is what matters and I am 1000% involved!”

It has been hampered by injuries and illness over the course of the last 18 months, including a Covid-19 fight earlier this season.

Pogba has made 15 appearances for United this season and has scored two goals.
