The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has reacted to news reports circulating that a deputy director of the Agency has beaten his girlfriend to death.

A statement issued by YEA’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kwasi Afriyie, on Thursday, March 11, 2021, said that the details provided in the news reports “are not entirely true.”

Clarifying the issues, the statement noted: “First, the Agency does not have any administrative position as a ‘Deputy Director’ at the district level, therefore there is no such position.

“Second, suspect Philip Caesar Kumah as staff hired to assist in our M&E activities in Akatsi South District (Not North Akatsi).

“Third, his contract has expired and he is under review and consideration for renewal.”

The statement also indicated that “the administration has contacted the Agency’s Volta Regional Director, who is obtaining detailed information and facts on the matter to inform future actions.

“We wish to state that the case is now a criminal matter involving the suspect (privately) and the Ghana Police Service. Therefore, the Agency will urge everyone to allow the law to take its course ”.

The YEA also condemned the act of violence perpetrated by the suspect, Philip Caesar Kumah and all forms of violence, especially against women, adding that it does not tolerate such acts.

“However, we wish to state categorically that, as an agency that defends the issues of development and empowerment of youth regardless of gender, we vehemently abhor any act of violence, abuse and / or attack perpetrated against any member of social development, especially women. .

“The Agency does not tolerate malicious activity and misconduct by sny staff at all levels, from Districts to Headquarters. This has been clearly communicated to all of our employees through our code of conduct and work ethics manual and the numerous trainings organized for our staff at very regular periods ”.

“Management will duly follow this as handled by the Ghana Police Service and thereafter will make recommendations for action by the Executive Director,” the statement added.
