Veteran forward Yahaya Mohammed entered his name on the Aduana Stars roster Sunday afternoon to seal a 2-1 comeback for the team against the Grand Olympics.
The Dormaa-based club, after enduring a rough start to the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season, set out to score maximum points today when they hosted matchday seven opponent at Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
Despite creating numerous opportunities in the first half of the match, a determined team from the Grand Olympics stood their ground and stood firm to ensure they reached the break on equal terms.
Six minutes into the second half, the visitors took the lead as forward Maxwell Quaye finished off a delightful team play.
Unfortunately, the Great Olympics couldn’t hold on after that draw and conceded five minutes later.
Aduana Stars’ Congolese striker Flavien Jean Kongaza took an opportunity to shoot in his effort to restore parity for the home team.
At the end of the ding dong affair that ensued between the two teams from there on, Aduana Stars took all three points with talisman Yahaya Mohammed converting a penalty kick to give the team a 2-1 victory.
The result sees Aduana Stars go up to 8th in Ghana’s Premier League standings, while the Grand Olympics drop to 6th.
