Yaa Asabea Hammond, a popular Ghanaian defender and writer, has urged all Ghanaians to make sure they bring in a female vice president by the time the December 2020 elections end.
In an Asabea op-ed published by 3news.com, the lady indicated that Ghana has now lost all the women who used to hold dominant political positions in the country.
Asabea mentioned that the participation of women in the three branches of government no longer exists, “adding that:
“We currently have a male president and a male vice president. No women at the highest levels. We used to have a head of the legislative arm of the government (Speaker of Parliament).
That’s no more! A President of the Supreme Court, Head of the Judiciary, no more! When a president of the Supreme Court retired last year, the PNP government replaced her with a president of the Supreme Court. “
Yaa Asabea Hammond concluded by saying that a vote for former President John Mahama and the leader of the NDC on Monday, December 7, 2020, will mean a vote for a woman, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, as Vice President of Ghana.
Meanwhile, a physically disabled woman identified as Mércia Viriato Lica has been inspiring people living with disabilities with her enthusiasm to succeed and not resign to fate.
The 23-year-old lawyer and activist who was born without arms became the youngest member of Mozambique’s parliament in 2020, reports How Africa.
During his inauguration, Lica pledged to contribute to the development of the country in terms of schooling and education.
