Na Abukari II has already assured the delegation of the European Union (EU) in Ghana that there will be permanent peace in Dagbon now and forever.

The King who was receiving the delegation in his Palace thanked the EU and the Yendi peace center for collaborating to ensure peaceful elections on December 7, 2020, adding that with the peace in Dagbon they could encourage investors to zone.

Bishop Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, Catholic bishop of the Yendi diocese who led the delegation indicated that the Yendi Peace Center had also met with some of the EU members on different assignments in Ghana, all geared towards elections. December 2020.

He said that they informed the members of the Union about their peace programs towards elections in the areas of workshops, seminars, public assemblies, peace building for women’s groups, youth groups, chiefs, political parties, including work for the peace for them.

He called on the EU to support them to expand the Assembly Hall of the Peace Center in Yendi, and the construction of a library, where Christian and Islamic books will be stored for young people to learn more about peace. Mr Krystian Spodaryk, European Union Governance Cooperation Officer, expressed his gratitude to the people of Dagbon.

Mr. Krystian said that the free pillars of his program included; address electoral violence, conflict prevention with the National Peace Council, House of Regional Chiefs, and support for security actors, particularly the police.

He said the program was signed by the European Union and the Government of Ghana (GOG) on September 30, 2020 in Accra and they began working with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the country.

Miss Justine Verdier, Head of Bureau Bruxelles, Gestionaire de Program Senior, Police Reform and Community Security, Swiss-based non-governmental organization working in Central Africa and West Africa in the areas of Security and Justice, social coexistence and peacebuilding , said they were working with the EU and their program would start in early 2021.
