Wontumi’s Show of Wealth Infuriated Voters – Ofosu Boakye

The unbridled display of wealth of the New Patriotic Party (PNP) Ashanti regional chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka President Wontumi at the slightest opportunity is to blame for the party’s ills in the recently concluded elections.

Special Help for the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu constituency Maxwell Ofosu Boakye has rebuked Wontumi for gaining notoriety for such rude conduct and said that many floating voters were displeased with him.

According to Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, President Wontumi displaying his wealth in public even angered some PNP members and floating voters who refused to participate in the December 7 general elections.

In a video that circulated on social media and was seen by MyNewsGh.com, the NPP regional president was seen showing the various gold bars he owns on Wontumi TV.

Speaking on Kumasi’s Angel Fm morning show, Angel In The Morning, hosted by Kwame Tanko (KT), Maxwell Ofosu Boakye attributed the poor performance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), especially in the Ashanti region in the general elections of 7 December, to the attitude of President Wontumi and some regional executives.

“KT, it is time that we speak the truth to power and correct our mistakes. The Ashanti region is a stronghold of the PNP and, considering the good policies that the government of President Akufo-Addo has implemented, the party was expected to win massively in the region. Although we won the elections, we did not expect this percentage. People decided not to even go out and vote because of the attitude of some regional executives, “said Maxwell.

“People have the perception that politicians are corrupt and are stealing taxpayers’ money, so if you (President Wontumi) show your wealth in public, those who fought and are fighting for the party but are still fighting will lose the hope. There are those who think that they have been neglected because others are showing their wealth in public while they do not even have what to eat. He noticed.

Maxwell Ofosu Boakye added that “now is the time to correct our mistakes. Some of the Regional executives have to change their attitude and go down so that the base feels love at the party ”.

Therefore, he condemned Ashanti regional executives for drinking champagne after the Election Commission voter registration exercise.

“Why should they celebrate after the voter registration exercise? People may think that they have already won the elections, so their votes are not necessary so that they do not go out to vote. It was a bad move that must be condemned ”, he stressed.
