The standard-bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Brigitte Dzogbenuku, has asked Ghanaians to vote for her in the upcoming presidential elections because she is capable of playing the leadership role well in the country.
He stated that women stand out for adequately playing leadership roles, which is why they should be considered in elections.
She said this on The Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, September 19 with host Stephen Anti.
“Women play a better leadership role than you men, so get women involved,” she said while contributing to the discussion on the show.
He was a co-panelist with Hassan Ayariga, standard-bearer for the All Peoples Congress (APC), and the two-time independent presidential candidate Jacob Osei Yeboah.
They discussed how minority parties can rally to become a third force.
Ms. Dzogbenuku stated that the two main political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (PNP), have dominated the political space in Ghana due to the unwavering support that the Ghanaian media gives them.
However, he said, the media have not offered equal platforms to lesser-known parties, including the PPP.
This, he emphasized, must end.
“The media take a position where they seem to want to eliminate these brilliant ideas that we have.
“Sometimes we have to give ourselves an audience because minority parties also have people who watch them or hold them accountable to make a demonstration and we ask that the media give us that platform where we can give the best of ourselves,” he said.
Ayariga, for her part, also said that the NPP and the NDC have been involved in vote buying for years because they are resourceful.
He noted that this situation has prevented minority parties in Ghana from becoming a third force in Ghana’s electoral history, following their inability to raise resources to the level of the two leading parties.
“The main political parties enter into vote buying. That is the biggest challenge. There’s so much vote buying and vote buying goes through the leaders of the political parties. “
