It has been clarified that the tourist who was attacked by a crocodile in Ave Dakpa in the Northern Akatsi District of the Volta Region suffered a minor injury and is currently well.

She was sent to the hospital, received treatment, and was discharged the same day.

Meanwhile, the Northern Akatsi District Assembly has started investigations into the crocodile attack on the tourist, reports Mary Anane-Amponsah of Graphic Online of Ave Dakpa in the Volta region.

The Akatsi Northern District Assembly in charge of the Ave Dakpa crocodile pond has said it was investigating the circumstances that led to the attack on tourists by a crocodile during a visit to the area.

The district executive director for the area, Dr. Prince Amuzu, told Graphic Online’s Mary Anane-Amponsah that “We were alarmed when we saw the video and we wondered when it happened.”

“But after our investigations we discovered that the incident occurred before the [Christmas and New Year] holiday period and the victim fortunately did not suffer any serious injuries, “he said.

The alarming nature of the video prompted the assembly to begin investigating how and when it happened, he added.

He said that due to the great concern raised by the public, the assembly will issue a statement to explain the details of the incident to the public.

In this video that has gone viral, a tourist who was part of a group visiting the place was attacked by a crocodile when they gathered around her and tried to pose for a photo.

In the video, the crocodile’s quick attack on the tourist resulted in other tourists setting off.

Because the video is incomplete, it is assumed that the victim may have been bitten on an arm or hand or seriously injured.

However, the DCE said the woman who was sent to the clinic for medical care received treatment and was discharged.

“She wasn’t even admitted. It was a minor injury and she is very well, “he said.

According to him, they were still following up on the people who were at the scene to help conduct further investigations.

Dr. Amuzu said that since the place was opened to the public as a tourist site, it has been a very safe place to visit.

“We have spent a lot to establish this project and therefore the safety of visitors and tourists was paramount to us and therefore we would not put it in danger,” he added.
