The founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Kwasi Addai Odike, has advised the former first lady and wife of the late former president Jerry John Rawlings to withdraw from next month’s general election.

Odike believes that withdrawing from the race will make Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings focus on her widowhood to ensure that the former president receives the necessary dignity and proper funeral.

Speaking on Akoma FM’s morning show GhanAkoma last week, the UPP leader, who is one of five disqualified presidential hopefuls from the December 7 race, explained that “Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has no place to win votes from sympathy because even in 2016, when her husband was alive, she had less than 20,000 votes. “

“Therefore, she should focus on the death of her husband and even withdraw from the electoral race,” he added.

Ms. Rawlings’ party, the National Democratic Party (NDP), is scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday, November 23 to tell supporters the way forward.
