Unfortunately, some people even think that forgiveness means throwing discipline out the window. Without discipline, justice and peace will always elude us.
Forgiveness takes away revenge or revenge, but not discipline.
What kind of discipline did former President Jerry John Rawlings try to help Ghanaians adopt? It was nothing more than Criminal or Reform Action against a transgressor.
The torture and murder of human beings during the Ghana Revolution were excesses that cannot be considered a normal discipline against a transgressor.
I don’t think former President Jerry John Rawlings was very interested in excess. But human as he was, he yielded to the famous demand of several people who shouted at the top of their lungs: “Let the blood flow” and this demand is very similar to that of the Jews of old, “Crucify him.” .
In fact, the excesses that took place during the Ghana Revolution were extreme punishments that should never be encouraged again in Ghana and the world at large.
Today, Ghanaians should do everything possible to bring criminal or reformatory action against an offender to serve as a deterrent.
Let’s consider the benefits of discipline in the Holy Bible. Because the Lord trains those he loves and punishes every child he accepts (Hebrews 12: 6).
Furthermore, we have all had our human parents, who punished us and we respect them for it; more easily we must submit to the Father of spirits and thus earn a living. Our human parents were training us for a short life and according to their own lights; but he does it all for our own good, so that we can share in his own holiness (Hebrews 12:10).
Of course, any discipline is at that moment a cause of pain, not of joy; but later, in those who have suffered it, it bears fruit in peace and righteousness. So hold all your weary hands and trembling knees steady, and straighten your crooked paths; then the injured limb will not be mutilated, but will improve (Hebrews 12: 11-13).

Therefore, our Judicial Courts should be seen as a very important place to promote the discipline that is the key to the flow of Justice and Peace in the world. Rather, it should be seen as a place to seek justice, peace, and freedom; a place to promote discipline.
If criminal or reformatory action against an offender does not become an integral part of our lives as Ghanaians, justice and peace would be very difficult to achieve and the equitable distribution of our human and natural resources will elude many.
Consequently, the poor will continue to wallow in extreme poverty, misery and slavery. Many will not even show remorse when they intentionally offend their neighbors a lot.
