Could Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland (left) and Bournemouth forward Josh King return to the Premier League?
With the domestic transfer window closing at 17:00 BST on Friday, BBC Sport takes a look at some players from the English Football League who might be on the move.
Josh King – Bournemouth
It always seemed unlikely that the Norwegian forward would stay in the Championship for long after the Cherries were relegated at the end of last season.
He has been linked to moves to West Ham and Crystal Palace but, at the time of writing, he is still a Bournemouth player.
Able to play down the middle or as a wide forward, the 28-year-old has only made one appearance for Jason Tindall’s men this season.
Said Benrahma – BrentfordSaid Benrahma scored 17 goals for Brentford in the 2019-20 season
The 25-year-old Algerian forward enjoyed a brilliant 2019-20 campaign when the Bees failed to advance to the Premier League.
Like King, he has been linked to moves towards London rivals West Ham and Crystal Palace and it seems highly unlikely that he will remain a championship player on Saturday morning.
On Wednesday it was reported that the Hammers had agreed to a fee with the Bees for Benrahma.
Former attacking partner Ollie Watkins has adapted well to Aston Villa and Benrahma, who scored 17 goals last season, will feel capable of making the jump sooner rather than later.
Jack Butland – Stoke City
The England goalkeeper has endured a difficult couple of years.
He has dropped out of the national team’s accounts and his form has suffered as Stoke have gone from being the mainstays of the Premier League to narrowly avoiding relegation to League One last season.
He has yet to appear for the Potters this season and is out of contract at the end of the season.
It is understood that Premier League champions Liverpool are interested in bringing in the 27-year-old to provide additional cover for the injured number one, Alisson.
Todd Cantwell – Norwich CityTodd Cantwell has made just two appearances for Norwich this season
The England Under-21 midfielder could join former Canarian defenders Jamal Lewis and Ben Godfrey to return to the Premier League after their relegation to the Championship.
Cantwell enjoyed a great start to the 2019-20 season, including goals against Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.
His form, along with Norwich’s, declined after the turn of the year, but Leeds is rumored to be interested in the talented 22-year-old.
Norwich manager Daniel Farke has left Cantwell out of the last two teams after being unhappy with his approach to training and one move could be the best for both the club and the player.
Karlan Grant – Huddersfield Town Karlan Grant has scored 23 goals in 56 league appearances for Huddersfield
The Town forward has not appeared this season, and manager Carlos Corberan is eager to work with players he believes will be with the club in the long term.
Grant scored an impressive 19 goals in 44 appearances last season as the Terriers avoided relegation to League One.
He has long been linked to a move to the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion and is scheduled for a medical there on Thursday.
