A poll by pollster and journalist Ben Ephson says Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the underdog when it comes to the next candidate to replace Akufo-Addo in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, the Minister of Commerce, Alan Kyerenateng; Railways Minister Joe Ghartey and Assin’s MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. They are more popular at the party than Dr. Bawumia.

However, in reaction to this, political science professor Dr. Amakye Boateng believes it is premature to discuss these issues.

“We will first analyze his methodology; how he came to that conclusion; we will interrogate the issues raised and find out if he is just trying to play mind games … but the path for the next PNP leader is not an immediate priority … looking at what is happening in the country now, this shouldn’t be a problem. The focus should be on Nana Akufo-Addo and Bawumia. It’s premature to get this out now … “he said in an interview on Neat FM’s Me Man Nti program.
