Western Togolanders who blocked the main entrances to the Volta region on Friday morning seized 10 Ak47 assault rifles when they broke into the arsenal of the Aveyime and Mepe police stations.

He added: “He quickly contacted the military reinforcement team from the Agorta naval base, who rushed to the scene. The military had an encounter with the allied rebels in Tademe and in the process shot dead three of the rebels and are currently in the Sogakope government hospital. The military enforcement team is currently on the ground in Aveyime and Mepe. Efforts are underway to transfer the injured who are in critical condition to the police hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the police and the army assured Ghanaians in a joint statement that the situation is under control.
