Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Nartey George has sent a stern warning to the police and military not to expect any support from lawmakers in the Democratic National Congress (NDC) going forward.

Their decision is based on the fact that the armed police prevented the deputies from entering the Electoral Commission facilities on Tuesday, where they had to present a petition to the president, Ms. Jean Mensa, to protest the result of the Techiman constituency South in Bono East Region.

“The police and the army should not expect any support from us in parliament. If they appear before the interior and defense commission, we will be waiting for them. Once you have stopped us here, we will stop you in parliament. We will show you the power of the legislator.

Minority lawmakers led by Haruna Iddrisu on December 22, 2020, took to the streets in protest at the compilation of Techiman South results, which, according to them, are characterized by irregularities.

In a petition addressed to the president of the EC, they demand that “you (president of the EC) have the results of the parliamentary and presidential elections of the Techiman Sur constituency collected from all two hundred sixty-six (266) polling stations in accordance with with the law, effective immediately.

That in accordance with article 43 (2) of CI 127, the approved court order, the notice of the bulletin and the notification to the secretary of Parliament be modified accordingly to reflect the true situation “
