NDC flag bearer’s career partner, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, called on Monday for an end to the troubling trend in tribal politics in the country.
According to the former Minister of Education, the NDC abhors such practices.
“We are one people and Ghana belongs to all of us,” he said.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang, who regrets that tribal politics have created division and marginalization in the allocation of resources for development, urged all Ghanaians to coexist in peace, regardless of ethnicity.
Addressing members of the Ewe community in Duakor-Abakam in Elmina in the central region, on the first day of his campaign tour, he emphasized the need for Ghanaians to avoid the policies of tribalism and move towards national development.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang, who came to Elmina, urged the Ewe community to be tolerant and avoid provocations, and assured that the NDC government would serve all communities with sustainable projects to improve the well-being of all Ghanaians.
“No group of people will be labeled and marginalized under the next NDC administration led by John Mahama,” he said, adding that the party’s manifesto had widely spread development interventions across the country.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang noted that all regions and communities had been served in the manifesto, indicating that the next NDC administration will complete all of its abandoned projects and establish more, especially in disadvantaged communities.
He said there are plans for the establishment of various health facilities, educational infrastructure, sustainable energy supply in communities in the Central Region and business support packages for informal sector operators such as traders and artisans.
