The Ghanaian government’s national cybersecurity adviser, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, has said the government will not back down in its fight against cybercrime.
This comes after a total of 11,545 reports were made through the Incident Reporting Contact Point (IPOC) of the government’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) between January and August 2020.
In a speech read by the Deputy Minister of Communications Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban on behalf of the Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, a significant number of people contacted the NCSC through the POC seeking guidance and direction for resolve incidents related to cybercrime.
This was revealed at the launch of the 2020 edition of National Cyber Security Awareness Month on the theme ‘Cybersecurity in the Age of Covid-19’.
According to Mr. Antwi-Boasiako, the National Cyber Security Center will continue to play the role it has been playing since its inception; continue to implement measures aimed at securing Ghana’s digital travel
“While efforts at the government and political level are important, we do not underestimate the need to engage and empower citizens to ensure that awareness-raising efforts are made among our citizens, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of the Center’s work. ”Said Dr. Antwi-Boasiako.
