Nana Akomea, CEO of the State Transportation Company (STC), has urged Ghanaians to get COVID-19 vaccines to bring the nation back to normal life.
The Government of Ghana has received 600,000 COVID-19 vaccines.
The government has begun administering the vaccines to high-profile personalities, media professionals, and front-line healthcare workers, among others.
Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, along with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Bawumia, were the first to receive the vaccine.
They were televised live on national screens on Monday, March 1 taking their doses.
Speaking in Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, Nana Akomea revealed that she will also receive the vaccine and recommended to all Ghanaians to do the same.
He noted that the vaccine is the surest protection against the Coronavirus pandemic.
He believed it would ensure that Ghanaians return to their normal lives, where they don’t have to wear nasal masks and endure the headache of observing all other COVID-19 protocols.
“Everyone must be vaccinated for there to be herd immunity in the country, which means that even if people become infected, they will not get sick to be admitted to the hospital or lose their lives. But before that is possible, between 80 and 90 percent of Ghanaians must get vaccinated.
“I’m sure the vaccinations will cover all Ghanaians. We have to get back to normal. We should be able to meet again and also continue with our normal work routines. But since not everyone has been vaccinated, we have to continue to wear the masks. and observe all COVID-19 protocols. When we can vaccinate between 80 and 90 percent, our lives will return to normal and there will be no need to wear the masks. “ told the host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
