Football agency founder ArthurLegacy believes that the national team will develop in the long term if more players are sent to Europe when they are younger.
In recent years, the Black Stars have seen players like Thomas Partey, who left for Europe at a young age, grow through the ranks to become some of the most sought-after talent in the world.
Mohammed Kudus and Mohammed Salisu recently won big moves towards Ajax and Southampton respectively despite their youth. They also came to Europe when they were very young.
Arthur believes that Ghana can get more of these high profile players if they are allowed to go to Europe early as they will be exposed to good facilities and coaches.
“We are a little late [in getting young players in Europe] but we have worked a lot in the last four years. Many people will ask, why are we bringing talents to Europe? I will ask you, where are the facilities to develop those talents locally? Where are the coaches? If you have a player like Michael Essien and you wait until he is 22 before sending him to Europe, believe me he will never reach the level of Thomas Partey, “he told Nathaniel Attoh on Joy Sports Link on Saturday.
He added that his agency is currently producing future stars.
“In my little corner, I can tell you that Arthur Legacy has the next Michael Essien, the next Sulley Muntari, the next Asamoah Gyan to come because we have invested in very young players who started their soccer at the age of 17 and 18. Europe. Now they are developing. “
“In Ghana, WAFA started this trend. Most young WAFA players can go to Europe at 18 or 19 and there they can develop. We have seen it in Kamaldeen and Kudus. In the next five years, I’m sure we will get the Partey caliber players, but now we don’t have them. We are not there. “
