Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has warned Ghanaians to show love and compassion for each other, especially the vulnerable in society, and stressed that we must continue to care for each other.

The vice president gave the advice after handing over a freestanding, fully furnished two-bedroom house to an elderly disabled woman (a cured leper who is also blind) in Motori, a village in the Wa West district of the Upper West. Region.

Mrs. Daari Pogo, who practically burst into tears at the gesture, emotionally moved the vice president and his entourage who had visited the community on Tuesday.

The story of the 82-year-old’s abandonment came to light after a Joy News documentary aired it spearheaded by Seth Kwame Boateng. Ms. Daari Pogo was forced to live in a small mud hut that barely protected her with her granddaughter.

He lived in abject poverty and misery, subsisting every day.

His moving story enlisted the help of the vice president, who had seen the documentary. He immediately set out to provide decent accommodation for the old woman and her granddaughter.

Regarding the donation on Facebook, Dr. Bawumia wrote: “Today, on my regional tour of the Upper West, I visited Mrs. Daari Pogo, 82, a cured leper who had been abandoned by her family in Gurungu motori in the Wa West district.

A few months ago, I was inspired by a Joy News documentary that showed the sorry plight of Daari Pogo, who was forced to live in a dilapidated 5 by 6 meter mud hut with her granddaughter Adjara after she was abandoned. As a result, I built him a separate two-bedroom house.

As the patron of the Leper Aid Society, today is a happy day in my life and I thank God for what He has done for Mrs. Pogo.

We must continue to be the guardians of others. “

Many have expressed their gratitude to the vice president for his kind gesture towards the vulnerable lady.
