Legon Cities Football Club head coach Bashir Hayford says the Royals hope the hard work in training will pay off in their league game against Liberty Professionals.
The Scientific Soccer Lads will host the last club at Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park on Sunday in the seventh week of Ghana Premier League matches.
Hayford, who took over the club after the sacking of Goran Barjaktarevic, admits that Liberty is a tough opponent to play away from home, but they have prepared well for the match after the break.
“We have worked very hard in training and we hope it pays off,” he told the club’s website.
“We know Liberty Professionals is a tough team and they will attack us, but we have prepared well for that task. We hope that this day is for us ”.
The Ghana Premier League winner, with Kotoko and Ashgold, explains that he is turning midfielders into attackers to fix the club’s lack of goals in open play so far this season.
“I’m trying to turn some midfielders into forwards and also give midfielders the freedom to shoot from behind the forwards.
“We don’t want to depend on our forwards just for goals, so that will be the plan going forward. So far everything is going well and I think they are gradually recovering.
“I hope we score goals from open play and not from penalties.”
