We have no other motive: accusation of intimidation by military garbage in the regions of Oti, Volta

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have dismissed claims that suggest there are plans to intimidate voters during today’s general elections, particularly in the Volta region.

In a press release addressing the allegations against the force, they say that the accusations that violate their professional integrity are false and unfounded.

“The audio recording of an unidentified male voice alleges the relocation of ‘gadgets’ from Accra to Ho with the aim of intimidating the people of the Volta and Oti Regions in collaboration with a neighboring country.

“The fact is that GAF has been deployed to all Regions of Ghana in connection with the 2020 General Election. The deployment is in support of the Ghana Police Service and this is standard practice. There is no other reason, ”says the GAF press release signed by Colonel E Aggrey-Quashie.

The Ghanaian Armed Forces have tasked all deployed personnel to remain vigilant while on duty today to provide protection to the citizenry and to ensure that the elections are concluded successfully.

The press release concludes: “The general public should also feel free to cast their vote when the polls open on December 7, 2020.”
